April Update

It has been a slow start to 2018 at QC but we can now announce that we have won the contract for the first stage of works at Manchester Airport. This starts with a multi-story car park and leading to 5 years work including works on a new terminal. It is a great opportunity for QC to become part of the Laing O’Rourke work force for the whole of the contract.

Works are coming to completion at Meadowhall, Sheffield in early May. The last 30 months have provided many complex issues to overcome but a very satisfying project to be involved in. Works are still on going at Meadowhall with new fit-outs to all toilet blocks in the Centre along with a refurbishment to the Oasis. Plans are in place for the new extension due to start in 2020.

Work is due to start on the second phase of the 3 Mobile Flagship Store soon which will open up a brand new concept from 3 Mobile and hopefully a major Roll Out of stores. The new concept will make 3 Mobile one of the leading players in the mobile phone industry.

We are also in talks with a franchisee of 3 major restaurants to carry out full fit-outs of their stores, starting in early May as well as being placed on the preferred contractors list of one of the biggest Fast Food providers in the world.

Our application for ISO9001:2015 is at an advanced stage with our first Assessment due early May. With this QC are showing our commitment to improve at all times and offer a more professional and reliable service to existing and new customers.

December Blog

The last 6 months at QC have been extremely busy with completing Whitcliffe School in Bradford and Meadowhall getting closer to completion early in 2018. We are in the process of achieving ISO9001 which hopefully will be completed early 2018.

We have also completed 5 new 3 Mobile stores including the New Flag Ship Store on Oxford Street in London. This store will be completed in 2018 with three more phases still to be carried out. Hopefully a roll out of stores will follow next year.

Two new customers were taken on this year. Ann Summers provided four stores including their new Flag Ship store again on Oxford Street, London. This was the first High Street store to include a tattooist where celebrity tattooist Dan Gold was to work from. Hopefully a roll out of stores will follow next year.

We also carried out a Joint Costa Coffee and Taco Bell in Sheffield which includes a Gymnasium above which is to be completed in 2018. This was a new venture for QC which completed on time and in budget hopefully resulting in more stores next year.

QC continue to sponsor Keenen Wainwright who this year became the Yorkshire Champion at his weight.

HMP Moorlands – Case Study

This is an older project that we worked on but we feel it shows how we can handle jobs with a difference.  As well as the usual technical issues, the Electrical Installation at HMP Moorlands offered lot’s of new challenges.  Given the nature of the building, security was a massive concern for this project which meant all our engineers had to undergo rigorous security clearance and daily checks.  Despite all this the project was finished without and H&S issues, and the project was handed over on time yet again.

February Blog

It’s been a quiet start at QC in 2017 with the 3 Mobile store now starting in March. Work carries on intensely at Meadowhall and Whitcliffe School. Meadowhall is to be really busy over the next few months now that Christmas and the January sales are now behind us.

QC had our annual Audit by Laing O’Rourke which was passed with just a few recommendations which are now being put in place. This will help the company move forward and become a major part of future projects for LOR. We always listen to and respect input from valued customers.

Project – Wasabi London

QC were given the opportunity to carry out the Electrical Installation on the Brand new Wasabi Restaurant in Lime Street, London. The location itself provided challenges logistically. The building was an old derelict building so a complete install was required which again provided lots of complications.

The works were carried out on a 12 week programme and was completed with no Health and Safety issues and with no snags and a very satisfied customer.
